Good Hope Farm is an owner-managed working wine and olive farm. Nestled within the of the Riviersonderend Mountains, Good Hope Farm boasts something for everyone but is especially a special treat for nature lovers. It is a real tonic for the soul, a place to rejuvenate and reconnect with nature. And is considered by many as a hikers-haven, with many secret hideaways for nature lovers to find.
Here are 8 reasons why we love Good Hope Farm:
1. Friendly Hosts
Taryn and Tiene are truly marvelous hosts who run a well-oiled farm machine. They will make sure you have everything you need from freshly-baked bread, to ice, firewood, and firelighters.
2. Child-Friendly Destination
Good Hope Farm is host to a wide variety of animals, from friendly roaming horses, to cows, ducks, sheep, and pigs (if you are lucky you will see some pink piglets too), and a few dogs and cats too — who all live in harmony. It is a safe haven for children to run free and wild with so many activities to choose from as well as a family-friendly mountain hike to the beautiful waterfall.
3. The View
From the Mountain Cottages you will have a breathtaking view of the Langeberg Mountain range, and a spectacular sunset too.
4. Star Gazing
With summer almost here, what a perfect time for some star gazing — a simple way to bring science alive for the kids and share with them the beauty of the natural world.
Good Hope Farm is situated close to Robertson, which is home to some amazing wines, and only a short 2-hour drive from Cape Town.
There is so much to do at Good Hope Farm to keep you busy. There's three separate hiking/trail running trails, one which leads to a beautiful waterfall with a natural rock pool at the base. Lilos are available for lounging at the base. You can also enjoy kayaking, fishing, biking, a volleyball court, and get to know the friendly farm animals.
There’s also a pizza oven for dam cottage guests, three swimming pools to take a dip in and a fully stocked farm shop to spend the afternoon browsing.
Not only does the farm offer a huge variety of activities, but the accommodation itself is spectacular! With various cottages ranging in size and price, there is an option for everyone to choose from.
8. Picnics and Braaing
Fresh produce picnic baskets are available by pre-order through Tastes of Montagu, for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. Braai packs can also be arranged, along with wine and cheese tastings.
Please note that all meal baskets and other catering requests need to be submitted a week prior to arrival, subject to availability. For more information visit www.goodhopefarm.co.za.
