A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Cape Town

A few weekends ago I was invited to stay at the Alphen Boutique Hotel, which you can find nestled away below the slopes of Table Mountain and only a stone's throw away from the city centre.

And I must say, it is the perfect place to escape to for some much needed R&R or a weekend away right on your doorstep. Consisting of three 17th century heritage manor houses, surrounded by beautifully kept gardens and tall trees one is easily forgiven if you think you’re out in the Cape Winelands rather than in the quiet picturesque Constantia Valley region.

The Alphen Boutique Hotel consists of 19 Luxury 5 Star suites all with spacious bedrooms and gorgeously designed bathrooms. I was lucky enough to stay in one of their deluxe suites, with a beautiful view of the mountain from my private terrace. Creating a sense of royalty and grandeur, the suites are the perfect place to relax the bones and catch-up on some ‘me’ time.

Set on 11.5 acres, the hotel has beautiful gardens to explore and if one prefers a more relaxed, laidback experience there’s an outdoor lounge and pool area, which is open all year round. On offer to hotel guest or day visitors popping in, are 3 fantastic restaurants. Looking for a delicious breakfast or lunch in a funky styled rustic setting? Then the LA Belle Bakery & Bistro is the place to be.

For later in the day when sundowners and outdoors lounging is on the wish-list then the Rose Bar will not disappoint particularly on a splendid summers afternoon — where I spent my afternoon sipping on thier signature cocktails. The perfect spot to bring an end to fun day and signal the start of an exciting night.  Once I sampled a few cocktails, I head across to one of the rooms at Blanko for a more refined and elegant dining experience. Set in rooms filled with beautiful art which all form part of the owners private collection, Blanko created the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience.
