Four hands cooking

Makaron at Majeka House will be turning its attention to a series of special, creative dinners in May. Resident chef Tanja Kruger will be inviting some of her favourite chefs into her kitchen to cook a six-course dinner. These ‘four hands’ will be using the very best ethically sourced, local, seasonal ingredients to create 'culinary genius on a plate'. 

The guest chefs are Christo Pretorius from Azure restaurant at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa (5 May) (passed); Gregory Czarnecki from The Restaurant at Waterkloof (11 May); and Michael Deg from Delaire Graff Restaurant (20 May).

Tanja and her guest chef of the night will be in charge of alternate courses, cooking a total of three courses each. Behind the scenes, the chefs may collaborate further by assisting each other in preparing and executing each course, and discussing options for the perfect plating of each dish. Each course will be paired with a carefully selected wine or beer to complement the flavours. 

‘I chose these three chefs because they are the guys that I have formed a bond with in the industry – we’ve become good mates. Christo is married to my best friend and we used to work together, Gregory is always willing to lend a hand and is super funny and entertaining, and I got to know Michael through the Stellenbosch at Summer Place wine show inJohannesburg. Collaborating with other chefs is fun, challenging and creatively stimulating,’ says chef Tanja. 

During the evening, the chefs will come out of the kitchen to mingle and chat with guests.Interactive and fun, these dinners promise to be very popular and advanced booking is highly recommended. The price per person for each dinner is R590 and includes wine pairings and water.
