Barney’s Artisan Deli is Hout Bay’s newest foodie hotspot.
The deli’s ethos is simple; everything available is locally produced, made with natural and seasonal ingredients, ethically sourced where possible.
Offerings include charcuterie, cheeses and dairy, homemade breads, confectionary and larder essentials; all on-shelf offerings are sourced from the Cape’s top artisan producers. Readymade dishes are available to eat-in on a sea-view deck or take home slow roast chicken, lamb shank, rare roast beef, gammon joints or traditionally prepared pastrami. Accompanying vegetable components vary from braised cabbage, mashed potato (infused with garlic or plain), three choices of spinach, roast potatoes, potato Lyonnaise, roast root vegetables, salads and more. Sauces include tomato essence, garlic infused balsamic vinegar, stock, jus, Neapolitana and béchamel. For all non-banters Barney’s offers fresh pastas, penne, linguine and noodles. Customers also have the option of building custom-made salads and sandwiches.
Coffees feature on the menu with coffee Truth coffee as brand partners, this means the best in breed brew. Fresh vegetable and fruit juices are made to order and micro-produced readymade drinks are available for customers on the fly.
