‘The harvest has come to an end, the vineyards are decked in their autumn finery and just as the first vestiges of winter can be felt in the crisp air…’ the Elgin Wine Valley opens its doors to visitors for the annual Elgin Cool Wine and Country Festival which is to be held over the weekend of 2 & 3 May 2015 from 9am till 5pm 1 daily.
Each of the 18 participating wineries will offer a unique programme.
At Almenkerk Estate expect fine wine, hearty food and live entertainment. On the agenda is the Almenkerk pop up café, which will serve light à la carte, French bistro-style lunches, from 11am until 3:30pm as well as delicious cakes and hot beverages (there will be an accordion player during lunch service).
Don’t miss the Almenkerk vertical vintage Sauvignon Blanc tasting (6 vintages) by winemaker Joris van Almenkerk followed by a Sauvignon clonal blending exercise from 10am to 12:30pm daily.
Plus, complimentary tastings: taste 3 Almenkerk's flagship wines.
