Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens recently celebrated its 40th annual Plant Fair this April (2015 Investec Kirstenbosch Plant Fair).
This year’s theme, Feast of Fynbos, aimed to provide food and garden enthusiasts with the opportunity to feast on the flavours, textures, colours and smells of the indigenous plants of the fynbos biome. The event highlighted the role that these plants can play in the recent trend of urban food gardening.
Hosted by celebrated gardening personality, Sandy Munro as well as by local food innovators Kobus van der Merwe, Loubie Rusch and Roshanna Gray who inspired the crowd as they demonstrate how to use indigenous plants in cooking.
