Setting The Bar

Here's our step-by-step guide on how to stock and style the perfect, luxury bar cart:

1. Start with the Cart

A tad obvious we know. But begin with a show-stopping cart and the job is half done. Invest in something that's both functional and easy on the eye. Think about things such as size, shape and storage space.

TIP: Whatever you do make sure you bar cart is on wheels. This way your mobile bar is free to move wherever it may be summoned. Pool party, anyone?

2. Less is More

Avoid the cart clutter. Just as you do when designing a space in your home, a beautifully styled bar cart begins with a plan. Think about where you’re going to put various elements on your cart and make sure to divide each element into its own section to create an organised cart.

TRICK: Make sure you pick a central colour palette that complements your space. A mix of brassy coppers and rose golds pop against bright walls.

3. In Good Spirits

Now, you’ll obviously tailor your cart to the types of drinks you enjoy but be sure to always be prepared for the types of drinks your friends may like too. We suggest you have quality spirits on hand like: Hendrick’s Gin, Belvedere Vodka, Herradura Tequila, Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Hennesy Cognac and a selection of quality whiskies such as Glenmorangie, Tullamore Dew, Monkey Shoulder and Gentleman Jack.

Our choice of quality spirits:

Vodka
Crafted using Polish Dankowskie Rye and blended with water from its own local pristine source, Belvedere's taste profile is distinctively soft with a subtle sweetness and smooth, clean finish.

Tennessee Whiskey
Charcoal mellowing is the process that differentiates a Tennessee whiskey from a Bourbon. Being charcoal mellowed twice, Gentleman Jack offers ultimate Smoothness.

Scottish Whisky
Glenmorangie is distilled in the tallest stills, which means that only the very lightest and purest vapours make it to the top, producing a much smoother, more elegant whisky.

Cognac
A harmonious blend of various eau-de-vies of different origins and ages. Hennessy Very Special is the world's most popular cognac. Intense character and full bodied flavours, enjoy neat, on ice or with a mixer.

Gin
In addition to the traditional juniper infusion, Hendrick's uses Bulgarian rose and English cucumber to add an extra dimension of unique flavours to this stylish Scottish gin.

Bourbon
Crafted in small batches, Woodford Reserve is the only bourbon that's triple distilled in copper pots, making it one of the most complex, full-bodied bourbons around.

TIP: Don’t forget to add bitters, soda water and mixers for juicing and garnishing such as lemons, cherries, olives and syrups.

4. Glass Half Full

You should have a variety of glassware on hand to use for all kinds of drink requests—because you never know when someone’s in the mood for a martini, right? You’ll need a few of these basics to start: Highball glasses, martini glasses, tumbler glasses, and perhaps some wine glasses and champagne flutes.

5. Take It From Tom Cruise

Up your cocktail-making game and be sure to stock your cart with handy tools such as a jigger, shaker, strainer, bottle opener, corkscrew, ice bucket and tongs. Try to choose tools in the same or similar style (such as copper or rose gold) to create a distinct look and feel.

6. Ice Ice Baby

If you have the space, show your guests you really mean business by adding an ice or champagne bucket to your cart. Instead of having to go up and down to the kitchen to get more ice, a bucket at hand makes for a convenient extra.

7. All About the Art

Art above your cart will add some personality and height to the set up. Choose something that won't over-shadow your cart but rather add to it. Perhaps an old piece or art you've picked up on your travels, or if you can’t find something that works, commission an artist for something extra special.

8. Give It Life

In our humble opinion, every bar cart should include something from nature. Such as flowers, a plant or a bowl of fruit—like a bowl of bright yellow lemons we've used here. These kind of add-ons will help give your bar cart a little life and an extra edge.

9. Personal Style, With An Edge

Take your style and make it a little edgy by adding a piece of décor you wouldn't normally find just anywhere (like our platter from Block and Chisel). It will show off your personality, and make the cart something truly unique — a focal point in your home.

Now there’s no excuse not to have the perfect styled bar cart, right?
