Here is the ultimate how to guide on all things duvet and pillows.

How To Choose the Duvet of Your Dreams

Sleeping under the right duvet can greatly improve the quality of your sleep. There are 3 factors to consider when buying a duvet.

1. Bigger is Better

Granny Goose always recommends to buy a duvet that is one size bigger than your bed. This allows the duvet to hang down the side of the bed and also leaves a little extra for sharing.

2. A Style to Suit You

When choosing a duvet, make sure to choose a style that suits you. And by style, we mean the way the duvet is stitched giving each duvet a unique features.

Granny Goose has three styles to choose from, the Channel, the Box-Stich, and the Four Seasons. Each is filled with weighed amount of filling, depending on the the filling and the value of the duvet. The channel stitching allows for vertical movement inside the duvet which his is nice if you need to "thin out" the top during Summer. While the box-stitching prevents the down from moving around inside the duvet, so it is always neat.

The Four Seasons duvet is made up of two Box-Stitch Duvets. One Summer Weight and One Autumn/Spring weight. Use them clipped together together to make up a lovely warm winter weight duvet or use them apart as the seasons change. This is a great option for people that feel the heat during Summer.

3. Which Filling is For You

Duvets with natural fillings are soft, light, and puffy to allow your skin to 'breathe' so you don't overheat. It is the classic 'warmth without weight' combination. The natural fibres are also very strong and resilient and therefore will last longer than synthetic fillings. Make sure that there is a 100% cotton downproof 230 thread count casing for all of their natural fill duvets, to prevent the filling from leaking through the casing. A top quality natural fill duvet should last a good 30 years depending on how often you wash the duvet.

4. Microfibre Alternative

This is a good option for those that are sensitive to down and feathers. The microfiber is quilted in into squares so that the filling stays evenly distributed, and are encased in 100% cotton downproof fabric giving it a more natural feel.

How to Choose the Right Pillow

It is important to take your time to find the correct pillow that will provide you with the perfect balance of support and comfort while sleeping.

1. Whats the Right Size?

Granny Goose have two sizes of sleeping pillows namely; Standard Size and King Size. The standard size pillows fit nicely on a Single, Double and Queen bed while the king size pillows fits both a Single and King size bed.

2. What Filling Should You Get?

This mostly depends on your body shape, size, personal preference and the position in which you sleep. Make sure to try out each pillow until you find the one that feels right.

3. When Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A pillow usually has a lifespan of approximately 4 years. This is significantly shorter than the lifespan of a duvet because of the rigorous wear-and-tear that the pillow goes through. The weight of your head and the fact that we sweat while we sleep all contribute to this shorter lifespan. A natural fill pillow will have a longer lifespan than a synthetic fill pillow. To revive your pillows, place them in the tumble dryer on a cool setting for approximately 20 minutes.

The following are signs that it may be time to replace your pillows: it is flat and difficult to fluff up, the casing is discoloured, or the pillow is lumpy.
