Preparing Artichokes for steaming

1. When choosing your artichokes, make sure that they have nice firm heads that don’t look old and battered. Make sure the stems aren’t dried out.

2. Cut off the ends of the stalks and discard them.

3. Cut off the crown and discard.

4. Pull off the outer tough leaves, and now your artichokes are ready to be steamed in a pot with salted water and a good squeeze of lemon juice.
