The fascinating struggle to produce the world’s most desired prestige sedan continues unabated among Germany’s top three auto makers, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. And it is the Bavarian Motor Works that has fired the latest salvo with its new 5 Series. Notable is its extremely sophisticated ride, stunning engine range and svelte looks. Short overhangs in the front and rear, a teardrop roofline and a snub-nosed grille location ensure the new 5 Series will stand out from the crowd. It’ll also leave the crowd way behind if you choose the twin-turbo V8 engine option, pumping out some 300 kW. There are three other six-cylinder petrol engine options, and a six-cylinder diesel.
